Next Tuesday will be a busy day for First Baptist Church of Indianapolis!
On Tuesday morning, many of our members will gather in our building to peel pound after pound of potatoes and prepare huge trays of yams. In the afternoon, volunteers will load the food up and drive it to Edna Martin Christian Center (EMCC) more FBC members will serve a Thanksgiving dinner to anyone who comes (and there will be many! — Each year First Baptist Church and EMCC partner to serve hundreds of meals during the week of Thanksgiving).
And at the exact same time, back at our building, still more volunteers will be opening the doors for our monthly Food Pantry, where anyone who needs a little help making ends meet is invited to come and choose from shelves stocked with fruit and vegetables, rice, beans, cereal, peanut butter, and more. We expect to serve around 200 families at next Tuesday’s pantry!
Neither the EMCC Thanksgiving Dinner or the FBC Community Food Pantry would be possible without the support of so many FBC members. The hours you spend peeling potatoes, sorting donations and re-stocking shelves make a huge difference in the lives of many people here in our neighborhood and beyond. We want to say “thank you” for all your support.
As the holiday season is approaching, we also ask that you would consider making an additional financial gift to our Food Pantry. During this season of celebration, there are many households that need a little help putting enough food on the table, and our funds are running low. We value this ministry of First Baptist Church, and we know that you do, too. Thank you for considering this opportunity to give!
