Saturday, August 5, 9AM-3PM at Carmel Christian Church
Church members are invited to attend a Discernment Retreat on Saturday, Aug. 5 as part of the search process for a new Senior Minister. The retreat is open to all members interested in the search process and is designed to deepen relationships, determine the gifts most needed in search committee members, and identify and affirm gifts within church leadership. The retreat will take place from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. at Carmel Christian Church (463 E. Main St., Carmel) and will be facilitated by Joan Friesen, executive minister of American Baptist Churches of Greater Indianapolis. Lunch will be included. Please RSVP to the church office by July 30.
Special Called Business Meeting
A specially called business meeting of the members of First Baptist Church, Indianapolis will be held on Sunday, August 13, 2017, immediately following worship. The meeting is called for the following purposes:
- To elect Melva Gray to the Investment Committee per the request of said Committee, pursuant to Article VI § 1.D.3.
- To ratify the resignation of Senior Pastor, Dr. Fred Lewis, pursuant to Article VIII § 3.

Center for Congregations Event
Dr. Israel Galindo, Dean of Lifelong Learning at Columbia Theological Seminary will be leading a Center for Congregations event at First Baptist Church on Thursday, September 14 from 9AM-4PM. A noted Christian educator, author and speaker, Dr. Galindo’s workshop will focus on “Understanding the Unique Nature of Congregational Education.” For more details go to this link.
ABCGI Transformative Meeting
The American Baptist Churches of Greater Indianapolis is hosting a training event to assist church leaders in experiencing and incorporating new spiritual practices and tools into the meetings they lead. This will be held on September 16 and hosted by First Baptist Church of Indianapolis. To attend, contact FBC no later than September 12.
