“For learning about wisdom and instruction, for understanding words of insight, for gaining instruction in wise dealing, righteousness, justice, and equity; to teach shrewdness to the simple, knowledge and prudence to the young — let the wise also hear and gain in learning, and the discerning acquire skill.”
These words begin the Book of Proverbs in the Bible. They emphasize the knowledge and understanding that comes through education. And that’s what is great about Clothes and Crayons for Kids that provides school supplies to help local children to succeed going into the new school year.
This year’s event will be Saturday, July 25th, at North Central Church of Christ, which has hosted the event since 1999. FBC Indianapolis began partnering with the effort in 2014.
This ministry helps families (identified by Washington Township Schools as in need of assistance) by supplying school supplies, backpacks, and more. Over 300 children each year are served.
There are a couple of ways you can be involved:
1- Volunteer to Help!
Volunteers are needed to help on the day of the event. Contact Bill Gurney at email@example.com if you want to help!
2- Give School Supplies or Cash Donations.
Gifts of school supplies or monetary donations are now being accepted. Follow this link to a “shopping list” for school supplies. Drop off donations of backpacks and school supplies, Saturday, July 11, from noon to 5 p.m. There will also be a box at Door 4 on weekday afternoons for school supply donations from noon to 4:30 p.m. All cash donations up to $500 will be matched by the Witness to Faith team at First Baptist Church. Designate checks or online giving for “Clothes and Crayons”. Follow this link for online cash donations.
Thank you for supporting this ministry!
