Rev. Dr. Mark Hetrick

On August 14, Administrative Council received the recommendation of our Interim Pastor Search Committee and unanimously approved to call Dr. Mark Hetrick as our Interim Senior Pastor. Dr. Hetrick will start on September 1.

Rev. Dr. Mark W. Hetrick has served in pastoral ministry with American Baptist churches in Wisconsin, Colorado, and Indiana for more than 40 years. For the past eighteen years he has served as an interim ministry specialist for the Indiana/Kentucky and Greater Indianapolis regions. He most recently served as the interim pastor of Speedway Baptist Church, a ministry that he finished on July 30. Prior to that, he completed interim pastorates with twelve different American Baptist congregations in Indiana. He will celebrate the 40thanniversary of his ordination next May.

From 2006-11 Dr. Hetrick worked as the Director of Advancement for the Baptist Student Foundation campus ministry at Purdue, a part-time fundraising position. From 1999 through 2006, he also served as the visiting Professor of Homiletics at Moscow Theological Seminary (Baptist) in Russia, where he taught a variety of preaching courses for several weeks each year. Additionally, Dr. Hetrick writes adult church school curriculum for the Judson Bible Series (Journeys) of the American Baptist Churches USA.

Dr. Hetrick and his wife, Dr. Karen Hetrick, have made their home in Greenwood for the past twenty-five years. Karen serves as the Director of Worship and Worship Arts for Mt. Auburn United Methodist Church in Greenwood.
