Senior Minister

Rev. Evan Bever joined the FBC ministerial staff as Associate Minister in July, 2012 and became Senior Minister October 1, 2018.  A graduate of Princeton Theological Seminary and Purdue University, Evan was ordained by First Baptist Church in 2013. Evan has responsibilities in worship leadership, pastoral care, outreach, and Christian Education for children, youth and adults. Evan serves on the Board of Directors for the Baptist Student Foundation at Purdue (a campus ministry of the American Baptist Churches USA) and the Fair Housing Center of Central Indiana.

Evan and his wife, Breanna, live here in Washington Township with their son, Isaiah.


Pastor of Faith Formation

Rev. Laura Harris-Adam joined the FBC ministerial staff in September 2019. Pastor Laura is committed to building bridges across all kinds of difference. She believes that everyone has a part to play in God’s mission and encourages all to share their unique gifts within and beyond the church community. Pastor Laura earned a B.A. in Religion and Art History from St. Olaf College and a M.Div. from Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary. She was ordained by North Shore Baptist Church on the northside of Chicago in May 2015. For three years, she served in the Boston-area as Pastor at West Acton Baptist Church. Pastor Laura currently serves on the Board of Directors for American Baptist International Ministries.

Pastor Laura and her spouse Josiah live in Broad Ripple with their son, Thomas.


Visitation Minister

Rev. George Boyd Kimsey has served in active Christian ministry for over 55 years.  His background includes Youth Director, Minister of Christian Education, Minister of Visitation and Pastor.  He and Joyce, his wife of over 50 years, have served in Indiana, Illinois, and Ohio.

Rev. Kimsey and his wife have four grown children: Dawn, Julie, Margean, and David as well as six grandchildren.


Director of Music

Steve Potts  provides leadership for the choir, helps plan worship services, and serves as church organist.

A native Texan and jazz student at the University of North Texas, Steve holds a distinguished career as Musical Director for multiple Grammy award winner Sandi Patty for sixteen years. Other accomplishments include serving as accompanist to the Bill Gaither Trio and Vocal Band for five years. Steve was also a former staff arranger at Royal Tapestry Publishing in Nashville, Tennessee.

Steve has served as Music Associate at Sagamore Hill Baptist Church, Fort Worth, Texas and in 1993 he began to serve on the music ministry staff at First Baptist Church of North Spartanburg, South Carolina. In 1997 Steve moved to Indianapolis to pursue work in the recording and publishing industry.

Steve’s own faith journey began at Central Baptist Church of Gainesville, Texas where he was baptized at the age of 7 and continued at Grand Avenue Baptist Church in the same Central Texas community.
